Workshops



Based on many years experience teaching printmaking in the voluntary, business and educational sectors I am able to offer a range of workshops catering for all abilities using a portable printing press.
Up to 10 people can participate depending on the space you have available.

  • Lino and Woodcut. Relief printing using cutting tools to remove the non-printing area of the lino or woodblock. Suitable for 15 year olds and above.
  • Collagraph. A collage technique very accessible to all ages and abilities.
  • Monoprint. This workshop covers a number of approaches to creating one- off images in print. Accessible to all ages and abilities.
  • Etching. (studio based) An introduction to etching using Copper Sulphate and aluminium.
  • Talks and Demonstrations

    Illustrated talks and demonstrations on printmaking using Powerpoint presentations and a small portable press.

    • A History of Printmaking. A concise history of printmaking from its origins in 9th Century china through to the present day. The talk includes over 60 slides and a practical demonstration of the relief printmaking technique and an opportunity to examine plates and blocks used in the various methods.
    • 20th Century Printmaking. A closer look at printmaking in the modern era focusing on the major artists who ventured into printmaking including, amongst many others, Piccaso, Munch, and Kyffin Williams.
    • An introduction to Printmaking. A brief illustrated history of printmaking and a look at the different methods used to make prints. It includes a practical demonstration and a chance to look closely at printing blocks and plates.
    • Picasso The Printmaker. The most prolific and innovative printmaker of the 20th Century.Picasso worked with linocut, woodcut, etching, drypoint and lithography to create more than 2500 different images in print. This talk covers his entire career from his first woodcut in 1900 through to his late etchings.
